Welcome to Beacon of Light

Beacon of Light is a non-profit charity organization that works for the betterment of people in Sirajgonj district of Bangladesh. It was established in 2001.

Sirajgonj district is situated beside the Jamuna River in northern Bangladesh. Set in a low-lying area, the district is prone to floods. Floods erode precious farming land and destroy homes and crops. It disrupts progress and washes away people’s hopes and dreams.

Many people in the district suffer from malnutrition and preventable diseases due to poverty and a lack of basic healthcare knowledge and facilities.

Many families cannot afford the fees and/or other school expenses necessary for their children’s education. Schools are poorly maintained and equipped and some teachers lack adequate training.

There is huge potential for humanitarian work in this area where people really need help for better quality of life. With a view to work in the field of education, vocational training, healthcare, and conservation of environment and in many other issues, Beacon of Light started its journey.
